Sublens ("the extension") is a Chrome extension that blurs subtitles on Netflix and YouTube and lets you translate, define and hear the words in them. This policy explains exactly what the extension does and does not do with your data.
None. Sublens does not collect, store, transmit or sell any personal information. There is no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no account or sign-in.
To translate and pronounce words, the extension sends data to Google Translate only when you actively trigger a lookup:
Only the text you choose to look up is sent. No full subtitles, browsing history, or identifying information is transmitted. These requests are handled by Google under Google's Privacy Policy.
Your preferences (such as the chosen languages and the on/off toggles)
are stored using Chrome's built-in storage API. If you are
signed in to Chrome, this may sync across your own devices through your
Google account. These settings never leave Google's storage and are not
shared with us or anyone else.
netflix.com and youtube.com - to read the
on-screen subtitles and control the player so the extension can work.
translate.googleapis.com and
translate.google.com - to fetch translations and
pronunciation audio.
Sublens is a general-audience tool and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
